Destination Weddings are at an all time high of popularity with Winnipeg brides and grooms. This is a wonderful way to begin your future among special family and friends in a romantic and tropical setting. The costs of having a destination wedding are so much lower than a traditional wedding at home.....as an added bonus you can also have your honeymoon at the same time!
When are you planning to have your wedding? This upcoming winter? Next? Once you have decided then you can begin the process with me to look at your destination alternatives. Decide on a style of wedding that appeals to you. Do you want a barefoot on the beach? Or a wedding gazebo overlooking the ocean? How many people do you plan to invite? Are there going to be children? Are you thinking all-inclusive? Do you have guests coming from other cities as well?
About 1 year in advance (if possible, otherwise as soon as you can) send out a “Save the Date” e-mail or card. Simple, but lets people know that you are planning a wedding for that time. You just have to give the month and year so that they can start to plan ahead.
Once a resort is chosen and price agreed upon the deposits will have to be in rather quickly. Usually 300.00 a person. This is to secure your space on the flight and at the hotel. We can usually give people 2 weeks to get deposits in from the time you notify them. I look after all deposits as you will have given them my contact info. I look after your guests from that point on...all questions, concerns, travel insurance... all of it. I also keep in touch with your guests and send a reminder to them for final payment as well. You just wait for updates.
As far as planning the wedding - I will contact the wedding co-ordinator for you and get the wedding packages sent to me. Packages are then sent to you, and you and your wedding co-ordinator will plan the details. You wouldn’t want anyone else planning your wedding. I am there to assist with any problems in contacting the co-ordinator if required.
There can be great bonuses out there for groups so we try to get the best arrangement for you and your party. Special group rates are available for groups of 10 or more. Wedding groups are best booked in the spring for the following winter.
